The Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association is comprised of business professionals from a variety of industries, backgrounds and expertise working together to provide a meaningful impact on Missouri’s medical marijuana trade and program implementation. Our board’s experience in other cannabis-legal states, licensing / application / operations as well as navigating Missouri’s business landscape, highlights our role as trusted partner to guide state government, regulators and the MMJ industry.
This committee impacts all non-healthcare related businesses from an education, compliance and regulatory perspective. The biggest focus will revolve around compliance preparation and guiding the development of industry rules and regulations to ensure a safe, successful and fair program implementation.
Upon returning to his home state of Missouri, Mr. Curtis helped establish the Beleaf Company. His extensive knowledge and experience working within the cannabis industry will be extremely valuable in guiding the efforts of Missouri medical cannabis stakeholders, regulators and MoCannTrade members.
Dr. Sciortino is dedicated to help establish systems for organized implementation of medical cannabis in Missouri. With experience with the current, highly regulated CBD laws in Missouri, Dr. Sciortino provides educated input on operations, safety and legalities as well as seed to sell tracking. Dr. Scortino’s many years of treating patients suffering with pain and witness of opiate abuse drives his commitment to see medical cannabis as a suitable replacement and to support the specific goals of MoCannTrade’s Healthcare and Education Committee.
Having a successful career in the Horticulture industry, both as a businessman and supporter of medical cannabis, Bernie’s experience and contributions directly impact both MoCannTrade and the Industry Education and Compliance committee.
Living by the credo “no job too large or too small”, Mr. Thomas specializes in guaranteeing each project/user is continuously supported from beginning to end. He brings the same level of dedication and commitment in leading MoCannTrade and its members with security expertise specifically related to highly sensitive, regulated, governmental and/or medical cannabis industries.
Darryl, a business litigation attorney, helps clients successfully navigate a myriad of governmental policies and regulations affecting their businesses. His extensive experience in both the public and private sectors allows him to anticipate roadblocks and shape legal strategies that enhance clients’ overall business goals.
Agriculture has been a focus throughout Mr. Chatman’s career, from graduate-school biotech researcher to his most recent responsibilities as general counsel for the Missouri Department of Agriculture and now the United Soybean Board. His accomplishments have garnered him numerous awards in agriculture and in the legal field.
As a respected member of Missouri’s law enforcement, drug enforcement and investigative communities, Lt. Gleason’s career enforcement experience will play a pivotal role for MoCannTrade and specifically our Industry Education and Compliance committee.
On a daily basis, Dr. Cernicek interacts with patients and physicians to design the most effective medical cannabis plans and products-based on the patient’s specific diagnosis and circumstances. Stephanie’s years of experience as a chemist make her an important member of the MoCannTrade team and an asset to those involved in the Missouri cannabis industry.
Josh has more than 15 years of senior-level national business experience in highly regulated and competitive industries along with 5+ years of cannabis investment / ownership experience. His entrepreneurial expertise in creating and growing companies from the ground up combined with his policy regulation knowledge provides an asset to MoCannTrade’s Industry Education and Compliance committee and the future of Missouri Medical Cannabis.

Dr. Vo considers the health, wellness and safety of her patients and community a top priority and her efforts as part of the Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association’s Healthcare Education & Training committee continue to support this.
Dr. Ostrom has served as internal medicine physician, Medical Director for Hospice and Palliative Care Department Chair of the Hospital Division and Oncology Committee Community Liaison. Its these roles, his ongoing care efforts in his community and Dr. Ostrom’s Evidence Based Medicine approach that positions his as a trusted leader for MoCannTrade’s Healthcare Education and Training committee.

As a physician already working in a medical cannabis legal state, Dr. Yablonsky’s experience with patients, medical systems and regulators will have a direct and immediate impact on MoCannTrade’s Healthcare Education and Training committee for a safe, responsible program implementation in Missouri.
Ms. Ladd’s current position involves cultivating and maintaining relationships with key policy makers, business leaders and opinion leaders in the medical research field on the state and national level. In 2016 she directed a campaign rallying consultants, patient advocacy groups, volunteers and business leaders in an effort to defeat a ballot initiative—containing language that could potentially harm medical research in Missouri. Her background and experience directly supports the mission of MoCannTrade as well as her role on the Healthcare Education and Training committee.
Mr. White handles complex commercial litigation matters for businesses of all sizes. With experience in all phases of litigation, his skills in oral advocacy and writing are an asset to his work in discovery, trial preparation and settlement negotiation. His commitment to effective case management and deep understanding of each client’s business helps him effectively serve MoCannTrade and a variety of industries.
Mr. Williams is an accomplished business owner and community pillar through his decades of pharmacy leadership and customer service. Brett helped build his small, family-owned pharmacy into St Louis’ largest independent pharmacy until selling three of four stores to a national chain in 2011. Brett is a respected medical industry professional focused on improving the lives of his customers and those who rely on him for healthcare leadership and expertise. Brett has led hospital missions in Haiti as well as local/regional disaster relief efforts with the Red Cross. It is this passion and dedication to his community that makes Brett the perfect addition to MoCannTrade and the Healthcare Education and Training committee.
Mr. Carpenter has developed expertise in the cannabis industry with particular attention to the legal and regulatory environment of the California medical and adult use markets. Before entering the cannabis industry in 2015, Zachary worked as a senior staff attorney at Orleans Public Defenders in New Orleans, LA. Zachary attended Harvard University and Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review.

His passion for numbers, investing, and service transcends to his interest in real estate, as Mr. Pennington spends a major portion of his time with Investors and Owners addressing their real estate needs. Whether it’s representing banks on their corporate real estate and loan portfolio—or working with local investors in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of investment properties. John’s business experience and acumen makes him the perfect chair for the Business and Trade Planning committee where he will lead the charge for MoCannTrade stakeholders, members and the impending industry.
Jack’s many years of regional, national and international business dealings along with his long career of legal guidance and leadership in the gaming, regulatory and hospitality industries makes him an excellent addition to MoCannTrade as well as the Business and Trade Planning committee.
Mr. Mays possesses the unique ability to craft sound legal expertise with a focus on the human side of business. He will use his deep transactional and compliance law background to guide MoCannTrade, cannabis industry stakeholders and members with specific impact to our Business and Trade Planning committee.
Over three decades, Kevin has led the development of successful, integrated brand development campaigns for a wide range of clients, in industries including tourism, consumer package goods, education, health, financial services, non-profit, entertainment and household goods—in both Business to Business and Business to Consumer categories. Kevin’s philosophy is “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” and its this approach that positions Kevin and his team as powerful partners for shaping the voice and message for MoCannTrade as well as his impact specifically on the Business and Trade Planning committee.
Mr. Wolf is a supplier of high quality active pharmaceutical ingredients and biochemicals including biological buffers, amino acids and other high purity chemical reagents through his company Xenos Inc. Sourcing unique ingredients from full cGMP ISO certified manufacturing plants in China, South America and Europe is his specialty. He has been involved in numerous FDA cGMP audits including initial FDA NDA/ANDA and 483 submissions. He is familiar with the global markets as well as the logistics, customs, and international laws of these industries. His goal is to give genuine hope and help to the people and children legal medical cannabis will benefit, make a difference in their lives and help to regulate the industry.
Mr. Sheppard was instrumental in the birth of the Mo. MMJ industry revising Constitutional Amendment 2 from 2015-2017, explaining its provisions to local groups and potential clients, and raising money for the effort. He has been a business lawyer for the last 35 years; is the Chair of his firm’s Marijuana and Hemp Law Group (7 of the 18 members of the firm); and recently named Lawyer of the Year by Missouri Lawyers Weekly along with Mike Hill, a MoCannTrade advisory board member, for their MMJ initiative work. His involvement in legal associations, community organizations and cannabis industry groups provides insight, expertise and leadership to both MoCannTrade and the Government Affairs committee.
Patrick’s extensive business experience and network have been invaluable in the creation of professional, process-based companies focused on regulatory compliance and strong ethical standards built for success in this new and highly competitive industry. Patrick’s experience is a perfect fit to help educate, advocate and guide the trade while serving the role of advisory board member for MoCannTrade specifically on the Business + Trade Planning committee.
Corey spent 20+ years in senior level positions within the alcohol industry. His experience in highly regulated businesses provides insight into the importance of establishing the right policies to support a healthy medical cannabis industry. He currently is the CEO of 3Gems Nutrition, a plant nutrient company focusing on cannabis nutrient supplies.
Larry Ellison received his Master’s in Accounting from Mizzou and has been an active CPA since 1970. He was formerly a partner at BKD CPAs, Executive V.P. of NYSE listed Empire Gas Corporation, has owned several manufacturing and service businesses and is currently a partner in EllisonLiggett; providing litigation services and expert testimony in forensic accounting. Larry also serves as Director and CFO of USA operations of Agrios Global Holdings Ltd. an international publicly traded (TSX) company concentrating in building and servicing state-of-the-art cannabis cultivation, processing and retail facilities around the world. Agrios is also involved with a hemp joint-venture in China. Larry resides in Springfield, MO and has been married for 50 years to Merrilyn with 2 children and 5 grand kids.
After hearing Senator Eric Schmitt’s impassioned speech for CBD on the Missouri Capital floor, It has been Mr. Mullins’ passion to see medical cannabis become a reality in the state.

Mr. Walter has spent years studying the industry’s remarkable expansion through state legislation and ballot initiatives, notwithstanding cannabis’s Schedule 1 designation under federal law. His vast industry knowledge, experience in state licensing, and representation of private sector clients have uniquely prepared him to support MoCannTrade’s mission of ensuring that Missouri’s medical marijuana industry is safe, compliant, fair, and effective for patients, license applicants, and businesses serving the industry.
Serves as CFO of Blue Dart Ventures LLC, within the Mitchem Companies. Mr. St. Arnold has been the CFO since 2011 and in addition serves as Chief Compliance Officer for the same entities. Prior to joining the Mitchem companies, Steve was the Vice President of North American Finance for Danisco, a worldwide food ingredient company from March 2000 to July 2011. Prior to 2000, Steve held positions in the industrial lubricants industry for Fuchs Lubricants. Steve has a BBA from UMKC and an MBA from Avila University.
Jack Cardetti has served for a decade as a spokesman and communications adviser for public officials and political campaigns. He has worked on some of the most successful campaigns in Missouri in recent years including the highly successful campaign for New Approach Missouri | Amendment 2 which had the highest vote tally of any item on the Nov 6th 2018 ballot. Jack was instrumental in getting the electorate to understand and support Amendment 2 and will continue to work with MoCannTrade, New Approach and Missouri stakeholders to ensure steady communications and updates related to the successful program implementation of medical cannabis in Missouri.
