This committee impacts all non-healthcare related businesses from an education, compliance and training perspective. Specific effort and focus revolves around industry education and ensuring awareness of the program’s rules and regulations to ensure a safe, successful and fair program implementation. This committee works in partnership with our Government Affairs committee to ensure alignment between the program, the industry, the association and its members.
From healthcare systems, physicians, providers and patients, this committee researches & defines best practices with stakeholders to ensure a safe, responsible and successful program implementation. Physician and practitioner education are paramount to the success of Missouri’s MMJ program and this committee works to accomplished education and training via outreach and partnership with systems / providers along with providing CME credit seminars, thought leadership and educational speaking engagements.
Engage stakeholders, industry and non-industry entities to inform, educate and guide the trade from a business planning perspective. These efforts are best accomplished via member and prospective member outreach, Leadership Council member meetups, business and civic outreach. Some of the business based challenges from a implementation and regulatory perspective include investment, banking, marketing, zoning, business licensing and fair business practices.
This committee works to understand, create, guide and communicate regulatory matters between association members, the board of directors and any relevant state organizations such as the Department of Health and Senior Services, state legislature and Governor’s office. Comprised of industry and regulatory specialists, this committee’s primary role is to focus on regulatory matters related to Missouri’s MMJ program implementation as well as specific lobbying efforts to ensure fair, compliant and expedient program roll out and legislative representation where appropriate

Mr. Jones is the CEO, Co-General Counsel and Co-Founder of Strayne, LLC. Since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) in 2012, Mr. Jones has taken a particular interest the legalization of medicinal cannabis throughout the United States. Among many other benefits, he has paid specific attention to cannabis studies pertaining to M.S. symptom management and related stem cell research. Corby is an alumnus of the University of University Missouri- Columbia for both undergraduate studies and law school. Throughout his 15-year legal career, Mr. Jones has dealt with myriad issues relating to commercial litigation and real property purchase and acquisition. He has also worked for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (“NAIA”) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) on cases involving student-athlete eligibility, amateurism, student-athlete health and welfare, and civil rights. Additionally, Corby has served as counsel to the NCAA on legislative and governance matters and assisted in the development and implementation of amendments to the Division I enforcement program.
Mr. Jones honed his interpersonal and leadership skills as a 4-year starter at quarterback and eventual team captain for the Mizzou football team. In his last 2 seasons at the helm, he guided his team to the university’s first bowl appearance and subsequent bowl win, in 13 and 14 years, respectively. During his senior year, he was also named as an Academic All-American, and one of 15 National Football Foundation National Scholar Athletes. He played professionally in both the NFL and Canadian Football League, and was inducted into the University of Missouri-Columbia Intercollegiate Hall of Fame in 2003. Corby later (while practicing law) worked as a college football analyst for the Fox Sports Networks. In October of 2016, he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
Mr. Jones has been a strong proponent in the push for a social equity component in the implementation of Missouri’s Amendment 2. He believes that everyone should be able to both access the medicine derived from cannabis and serve their communities (geographic limitations and socioeconomic status, notwithstanding). As an advisory board member of McCannTrade and member of its Government Affairs Committee, Mr. Jones drafted the initial MBE/WBE provision, which was proposed for presentation to the Department of Health and Senior Services.
