This coming June 4th marks the one year anniversary of the MoCann HR Working Group. MoCann licensee members are again invited to have representation in this group both at the monthly virtual meetings and the upcoming in-person meeting planned for the morning after the Q2 meetup in KC.  This collaborative Human Resources group comprised of HR professionals working within licensed entities in the Missouri cannabis industry continues to meet virtually each month virtually and twice a year in person following the quarterly meetups.

As a HR professional working within a licensed group, your participation and insights are invaluable as we work together to navigate the unique HR landscape of the cannabis industry in Missouri. We are confident that your contributions will enrich our discussions and ultimately benefit our respective organizations.  While MoCann will be in attendance to support these discussions, the conversations will be led/moderated by peer HR professionals including Alice Moore - Proper and Marilyn Gleason - Beleaf.

Special Discussion for National Safety Month

11:00am - 12:00pm

Moderator: Ernest Jamison, National Safety Manager for Good Day Farm

We are extending an additional invite to our Safety Leaders working within licensed operating groups here in Missouri for a special discussion in honor of National Safety Month.

Hear from Industry peers about organizational approaches to safety in the workplace. The cannabis industry is one of the fastest-growing, potentially high-profit industries. It is also one of the country’s most regulated industries. Even though each “cannabis” state has their own administrative, marketing, and finance regulations, the challenges of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) are all the same.

Learn about safety standards required from OSHA. The cannabis industry is not federally regulated. However, the OSHA mandate for all employers to provide workplaces free from recognized hazards that could cause harm or death to employees is still a requirement for all cannabis growing-manufacturing organizations. This includes implementing safety measures, providing training, and taking steps to prevent accidents and injuries, under The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA).

Examine and discuss best practices for work place safety. It is vital to be familiar with regulatory requirements and how they may can impact your operations. The goal of this EHS-HR group meet is simply to open the lines of communication and create a dialect for the MO Cannabis EHS Community to discuss areas including:

  • Hazard Communication
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Incident Prevention
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Incident Reporting & Workers Compensation

Please RSVP by May 23, 2025 to confirm your attendance and receive further details regarding the location and agenda for our inaugural meeting.

We look forward to connecting with you and building a strong network of HR professionals dedicated to advancing our industry.
